A prudent person forsees danger and takes precautions. The simpletone goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.- Proverbs 22:2 NLT
At times, I think that we believe faith is supposed to be blind. Isn't that the definition of faith—believing in something you can't see? Sometimes we tell ourselves that if we doubt or question, then we are not truly walking in faith. Aren't we meant to walk by faith and not by sight?
God is not upset with us when we doubt or question. He is also not in a rush. He wants us to sit with Him, take our time, ask questions, think ahead, plan, and prepare with Him. We must humble ourselves and allow Him to show us what path to take! Yes, at some point, we have to take a step and move forward, even without knowing all the answers or how it will turn out in the end.
I have chosen many times to be blind—not in a good way. Not in a way that says, "I don't understand, Lord, but I will follow You." No, in a way that says, "I know You are trying to warn me of upcoming danger, but I will forge ahead, wanting what I want, regardless of what You say!" I have closed my eyes, not wanting to see the reality of the situation, and then had to face unfortuate consequences.
We have to be honest with God. He already knows anyway! When we do not allow Him to show us the dangers ahead and close our eyes to what He wants to reveal, we will face consequences. Let's be prudent and come before God so He can show us the dangers ahead, allowing us to take the necessary precautions!
